About Us

Andy Smith, Founder of Numberwise, has been a CPA since 2004 (pretty impressive, huh?). He leads the strategic vision of the company, signs all those fun tax returns, and tries not to get in the way too much. His favorite aspect of accounting is how everything balances. For him, it’s like a puzzle to solve when things don't balance and he loves finding the answer.

Andy started Numberwise because he didn't enjoy "corporate" accounting where he was just moving numbers from one column to another. He wanted to work where his contribution made a difference in real people's lives. He also wanted to be more flexible with his time so he could see the important parts of his kids' lives as they grow up.

In his spare time, Andy roots for the Angels and Everton (an English soccer team). He also likes to brag (a lot) about the time he bowled a perfect 300 game! He lives with his wife and 2 children.

Tadd Wooton, co-founder of Numberwise (originally the Smith & Wooton accounting firm), is a seasoned CPA with 25+ years of experience. For half of his career, Tadd was a full-time internal Chief Financial Officer after being hired into the role within a client's rapidly growing business portfolio.

Tadd has traversed vast amounts of financial terrain directing teams alongside owners, executives, and investors in businesses with revenues from $1 million to $300 million. Numberwise clients benefit from his hands-on experience shepherding financial teams and financial systems through over 15 successful mergers, acquisitions and business exits. Tadd loves answering the question “so…what is the point?” and returned to Numberwise because he enjoys the more immediate and long-lasting impact his experience brings to the table for up-and-coming businesses.

Tadd lives with his wife and two kids in Southern California, and, while they love their home, the Wooton family often prefers beach camping or roughing it in the Sierras under the stars. Rachel Law, Marketing Manager at Numberwise, has over 14 years of experience in marketing and communications. She coordinates content for all of our marketing channels, and loves a good meme.

Rachel is a health and fitness enthusiast who enjoys yoga and running. She has 2 kids and a growing number of indoor plants which may or may not have names.

Stephanie Lorntzen, CPA, is the Accounting Manager at Numberwise. She has worked in accounting for nearly two decades and has been part of the Numberwise team since 2015. Stephanie has a knack for explaining things in a way that makes sense to people who don’t have an accounting background.

Stephanie loves how well the Numberwise team works together. That, and the golf outings (when we're not in a pandemic). Stephanie and her husband have 3 kids. They love going to the beach and traveling, although traveling is tougher with 3 kids.

Steve Turk, Bookkeeper at Numberwise, is a Xero Certified Advisor and Bill.com Guru. He has been on the Numberwise team for 6 years.

Steve loves the Numberwise culture and family-type bonds shared among the team. He also appreciates how the team stays ahead of the curve with technology and continues to work smarter instead of harder.

Steve is married and has 2 children and 3 dogs. He loves sports, reading, bourbon and cigars.
